Prospect Ave Solar Penthouse
This remodel of a 2100SF fourth floor penthouse in West Hartford took it from 70’s kitsch to thoroughly modern. Along the way we made major improvements that cut energy use in half while transforming the experience of comfort. To produce energy a solar canopy was designed for the east and west patios. These architectural additions not only produce 87% of all the energy they use, they provide welcome shade and shelter. These otherwise hot patios have become outdoor “rooms” with welcome shade in the style of a pergola with translucent glass solar panels for a roof.
Wolfworks did two projects for us, a whole apartment (condo) renovation and the addition of pergolas with solar panels on two of our rooftop decks. Wolfworks interest in energy efficiency, solar, and design transformed a dated, energy hog 1970s condo into a modern, energy efficient, and comfortable home. The solar pergolas provided much-needed shade on the rooftop decks too and the solar is a bonus.
